When I founded Streetz Ahead in 2016, I wanted to create something that felt different. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside many children and young people, and one thing has stayed with me: young people do not need to be defined by their past. They need adults around them who are consistent, who listen, who keep
their word and who believe in, and advocate for their progression. Many of the young people we support have experienced trauma, instability, disappointment or significant changes in their lives. We understand that these experiences can affect how someone feels, behaves and builds trust. That is why our approach is trauma-informed, but also
practical and grounded in everyday relationships. We don't expect trust to happen overnight. We earn it by showing up, being consistent, listening without judgement and doing what we say we will do.

For me, good support is about more than providing a safe home. It is about helping a young person feel safe enough to be themselves, confident enough to make choices and supported enough to take their next step. That next step will look different for everyone. For one young person, it might be returning to education or finding their first job. For another, it might be learning to manage money, developing healthier relationships or feeling ready to move into their own home. We recognize and celebrate all of it. We also understand that independence should never be rushed simply because someone has reached a certain age. Our role is to understand where each young person is, what they need and what they are ready for, and then work alongside them to
build the confidence, skills and stability they need for whatever comes next. I am incredibly proud of the people who make Streetz Ahead what it is. Our team brings experience, compassion and professionalism to their work, but most importantly, they understand the importance of relationships. We invest in our staff, provide ongoing training and support, and expect them to treat every young person with dignity, respect and honesty. We work closely with families, local authorities, social workers, education providers and other professionals because the best outcomes rarely happen in isolation. But throughout all of that partnership working, the young person remains at the center. Their views, experiences, identity and ambitions should matter in every decision about their life. As Streetz Ahead continues to grow, that principle will remain. Every young person who comes through our doors will experience safety, consistency and respect, while having
the opportunity to develop their own identity, discover their strengths and build a future that feels achievable to them.
